Newhaven Historical Society is holding its AGM at the Hillcrest Centre in Newhaven on the 4th of February at 7.30pm.

Following the AGM there will be an illustrated presention by Gary Bains on: Shoreham Fort - Past, Present and Future covering:

· When and why the forts were built and how they prevented attack.

· Where the forts were strategically placed.

· How the use changed from defending the country to becoming the first ever film studio.

· Why the fort was then left to decay.

· What is happening to conserve and maintain the last fort of its kind.

· The plans to restore the fort and return it to the community to use.
