NEWHAVEN TOWN COUNCIL VOTES TO REDUCE COUNCIL TAX

January 25th, 2023.

Bill Giles writes:

At a poorly attended meeting of Newhaven Town Council on the 17th of January, Newhaven Town Council voted to reduce the town’s share of the tax by 3%. Council Tax is paid by almost all householders to support local activities and amenities.

Led by Independent Councillors Saunders and McLean and Conservative Councillor Bill Giles, the Council was urged to think of the cost of the tax to residents and to provide a lead to other councils considering raising their share of the tax.

A majority of the Council voted for the measure.
