Newhaven Lifeboat RNLI is recruiting a Water Safety Advisor to join its dedicated team of volunteers. This is an opportunity to contribute to the charity’s Community Lifesaving Plan and reduce the number of preventable deaths and incidents occurring in the Station’s local coastal and inland waterways.Jane Masey, Water Safety Officer, explains: "Newhaven RNLI runs a welcoming and inclusive team. Training will be provided to fulfil the role in which new skills and experience may be gained, as well as earning the satisfaction of giving back.
"Some knowledge of local water-based activity and environment is desirable. We will be looking for someone who is passionate, with a keen interest in improving water safety.
"The role of Water Safety Advisor is integral to our mission to save more lives at sea. This is a great opportunity to gain new skills, build personal confidence and make new friendships whilst benefitting the local community.
"The Water Safety Advisor will provide RNLI water safety advice to members of the public, including in schools, and actively seek opportunities to promote targeted RNLI safety messages."
Activities include attending regular water safety meetings, presenting to, or engaging with, members of the public and maintaining good relationships with local stakeholders and partners.
