Newhaven Enterprise Zone (NEZ) is inviting charities and not for profit organisations in the town to apply for a share of £18k of funding.Applications for the NEZ Community Fund are open now, with a deadline of 12 noon on Friday the 20th of February.
Michelle Connors, the programme manager at NEZ said: “We are particularly interested in hearing from Newhaven charities and not for profit organisations that have never applied for funding from this scheme before, so we can ensure money is distributed across as many groups as possible.
“Ultimately this fund is designed to help grassroots organisations in their mission to improve the lives and wellbeing of Newhaven residents. We can’t wait to hear from them and find out how we can provide support.”
The NEZ Community Fund would welcome applications from charities or not for profit organisations which promote projects, services and activities that encourage participation by children and empower young people. It would also like to hear from groups which boost community venues and activity spaces, or create opportunities for inter-generational shared experiences through regular clubs or one-off events. Applications are also encouraged from groups which promote, support and improve access to volunteering opportunities, or develop community spirit and support communities to live happily together. In addition, groups which provide information, advice, advocacy or counselling to those in need, or encourage creativity are on the list.
Amongst the previous applicants which secured funding last year was The Hillcrest Community Centre which secured £5,880 towards a £15,000 project to redecorate five of the rooms at this much-loved venue. Money went towards refurbishing two of the rooms which were in need of decoration, new flooring, new chairs and tables and blinds.
