MacCLEARY REACTS TO "OUT OF TOUCH" MINI BUDGET

September 23rd, 2022.

Lewes Lib Dems release:

Responding to today's mini-budget announced by Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng in Parliament, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Lewes, James MacCleary said: "The mini-budget today was heartless, irresponsible and deeply unfair from a government that is so out of touch with people here in Sussex.

"Instead of helping an NHS that is on its knees after years of Conservative cuts, Conservatives chose to give payouts to the richest. Instead of supporting people struggling to choose between heating and eating, bankers will get bigger bonuses.

"Conservatives knowingly made the choice, to help the richest people in our country and leave the worst off and our public services to struggle.

"Without any mandate, Liz Truss and the Conservatives are crashing and burning, and bringing the country down with them.

"I will continue to champion a fair deal for people and businesses in Lewes, Seaford, Polegate, Newhaven and the villages who are being left high and dry by this government. The Liberal Democrats would scrap these unfair tax handouts for banks and other multinational companies raking in huge profits, and use the money to help struggling families with their bills instead."
