LOCAL PLAN DROP-IN EVENTS

January 19th, 2026.

Lewes District Council is urging residents to take part in drop-in events being held across the district as part of the latest public consultation on the draft Lewes District Local Plan.

The consultation, which runs until February the 28th follows Cabinet approval in December for the next phase of engagement. The Local Plan will guide where new homes, employment space and community facilities should be located up to 2042, based on detailed evidence and the significant environmental and physical constraints of the district.

The programme of drop-in events has now been confirmed, offering residents the chance to speak directly with planning officers, ask questions, and learn more about the proposals being consulted upon. People are welcome to attend whichever event is most convenient, regardless of where they live.

Residents who want to see the consultation documents in advance of the planned events, can visit locations across the district where pa per copies are available. Full details are available at www.lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk/lewes-local-plan

Councillor Zoe Nicholson, Leader of Lewes District Council, explained: “These drop-in sessions are one of the most important ways for people to get involved. The Local Plan will shape our communities for years to come, and we want as many residents as possible to come along, talk to us, and share their views.

“Every opinion matters and attending an event is a powerful way to make sure your voice is part of the conversation.”
