Freshford Cottage in Seaford has announced its involvement in #GladtoCare Awareness Week - July 6th to 12th - a national awareness week dedicated to celebrating those who work in the care sector.

With the coronavirus crisis having been a trying time for the care industry in recent months, #GladtoCare Awareness Week looks to champion the work that carers do, giving them the opportunity to shout about why they’re glad to work in care.

Showcasing the efforts of the caring community, #GladtoCare Awareness Week invites care providers and care workers to register and join in a week-long event, which will highlight the remarkable happenings within the industry, promoting the positives of care to all.

Sharing the sentiment behind the awareness week, Freshford Cottage was keen to be involved and immediately registered its interest. Discussing its reasons for wanting to participate, Finlin Martin, Registered Nursing Care Home Manager at Freshford had this to say: "We are so excited to be a part of #GladtoCare Awareness Week. It’s lovely to have the opportunity to share our residents’ smiles and the positivity of our staff on a larger scale to offer the reassurance to families and friends that life continues as normal here at Freshford."

The home will be able to take advantage of a free #GladtoCare digital toolkit including decorative bunting, display posters, social media frames, and bespoke activity calendars full of ideas for getting its residents involved. In addition, the home will be given the opportunity to take part in the #GladtoCare ‘Showcase Saturday’ – a takeover of Glad to Care’s social channels, which will give participating homes the opportunity to open their doors to the public with virtual show-arounds on Saturday the 12th of July. With in-person tours currently restricted in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this serves as an opportunity for members of the public who may currently be seeking care for loved ones to begin their search.
