NEW LOCAL FOOD DELIVERY WEBSITE

May 4th, 2020.

Eastbourne Borough and Lewes District Councils have launched a new website to showcase the wide array of local food and drink businesses offering deliveries in response to the Covid-19 crisis.

With demand rocketing as people stay at home, some businesses have diversified by transforming their premises into a community shop with a delivery option while others have scaled up their takeaway service.

The councils’ website eatlocal.info is a comprehensive directory of these outlets.

Councillor Zoe Nicholson, Leader of Lewes District Council’s Co-operative Alliance, said: “We identified the need for a one-stop website listing local providers after receiving enquiries, particularly on our Covid-19 community line, from residents who are self-isolating and need essential items delivered.

“Now people can quickly and easily access these services by simply visiting eatlocal.info.”

Businesses are listed free of charge and the website has a ‘Suggest a business’ facility to register details of a new outlet.

Councillor David Tutt, Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, said: ““I’m delighted we have rapidly set up eatlocal.info which will encourage people to shop locally.

“We are working hard to support local businesses through this very challenging time and want to help as many firms as we can to ensure our area has a prosperous economic future. “
