October 15th, 2017.

Newhaven lifeboat and her volunteer crew were launched at 3.42pm last Thursday to reports of two people cut off by the tide under the Seven Sisters cliffs. The lifeboat arrived at the position at 4.00pm and commenced a search of the area.

The two casualties were soon found below flag staff point, they were perched on a previous cliff fall with the tide still flooding.

The daughter inflatable Y boat was launched. The Y boat veered down to the position in the breaking surf, backing into the beach having deployed the anchor so that the crew can extract themselves by pulling the Y boat back out on the anchor line.

The two casualties, who were uninjured, were safely extracted from their dangerous location at the foot of the cliffs and taken onboard the main lifeboat. The Y boat was then recovered and the casualties were safely returned to Newhaven lifeboat station at 5.06pm.
