JOIN THE FORCE IN SEAHAVEN

October 5th, 2017.

Seahaven Force Basketball Club has been busy helping young people enjoy one of the most popular sports in the UK since its launch in July. The newly-formed squads have been working on their skills at regular training sessions in Newhaven, Seaford and Peacehaven.

"The enthusiasm and commitment have been brilliant," says co-founder Matt Horner. "We have a core group who have been with us since the beginning, and new players are joining every week. By next season we will have squads ready to compete in the Sussex League, and we will be playing against teams from Eastbourne, Brighton, Hastings, Horsham and many more Sussex teams."

Coach Matt and co-founder Coach Miguel Tello have both been impressed with the development of the players and the teamwork amongst players of different ages. Miguel is keen to develop this new club to rival teams in the area: "I have been coaching in Sussex for many years, and now I am living in Seaford, I am determined to build a successful club. We have many promising young players, and they are improving all of the time."

As well as the regular open squad sessions and schools coaching, The Force runs basketball camps, with the next one set for half-term on Thursday the 26th of October at Seaford Head School. The camp runs from 10.00am through to 4.oopm, with skills development, shooting contest and a mini-tournament. Cost is £20.00

The Mini Ballers session began in September, introducing children aged 6 to 11 to basketball and multi-skills, helping girls and boys with sports confidence and inspiring teamwork.

A new adults session for 18+ has also just started, on Thursday evenings at Seahaven Academy from 7.30pm through to 9.00pm.

Matt is keen to talk to any local businesses who would like to support the club with donations or sponsorship partnerships.

"We will work hard to make sure all supporters get as much benefit as possible. We will include information and branding on our website, social media and in all communications. Sponsors will be visible on branding also, depending on the level of involvement."
