FRIENDS OF TIDE MILLS SEPTEMBER MEETING AND CLEAR-UP

September 18th, 2017.

The Friends of Tide Mills have completed their September meeting yesterday. Most pleasingly we have seen the continuation of the small amount of litter of this year, whereby 19 members collected just four sacks of assorted litter this time around.

This is great testament, not just to ourselves, but everybody who visits this fantastic space and takes home not just their own litter but one or two additional items as well. If we all keep this level of care going there is no reason why the whole of Tide Mills could not be considered, effectively, litter-free - how fantastic is that.

The FOTM continue to voice its objections and concerns about the ESCC proposal to press ahead with the port access road which will see an erosion of open space, disturbance etc. towards the Newhaven Port end of the site. We have now formally asked the Chief Executive of ESCC to direct a review into this project and have offered to assist in any consideration of alternative options.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Sunday the 15th of October, 10.00am -12noon.

More members are always very welcome. The more we are, the stronger we are in protecting this beautiful and precious open space and keeping it the peaceful haven it undoubtedly is.
