35 young people competed at the Skate Park Event at Fort Road Recreation Ground in Newhaven on Friday the 25th of August. The event, arranged by Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) and the Newhaven Young People’s Forum (NYPF) and funded by Newhaven Town Council, attracted all abilities to the competition with many young people coming to spectate. There were prizes from Vans and Source, graffiti art and the Health Bus with Targeted Youth Support. Free food and music completed the enjoyable afternoon.

Lucy Hill, SCDA Families and Youth Work leader said: "The Newhaven Young People’s Forum has been supporting young people to campaign for a new skate park on and off for a few years. It is great to see that Lewes District Council now has a budget to start the process of renewing the area. We hope that community members of all ages would like to be a part of the design group. The Skate Park event recently showed that people of all ages use the park and enjoy the space."
