TWINNERS VISIT AND CHAT

June 20th, 2017.

Peter White reports:

Seaford's Twinning Association has just returned from a visit to Crivitz. This town in what was East Germany is twinned with Seaford's own-twin-town of Bönningstedt.

In a five-day visit the Seafordians took part in a Children's Festival, the annual Town Festival, enjoyed a lake cruise and visited the regional seat of government in Schwerin Castle. The Seaford Town Crier gave a 'cry' of welcome. Transport was courtesy of the town's Fire Brigade.

The castle visit included clambering across the roof of the building, originally built by Richard the Lionheart's son-in-law, and sitting in the regional parliament. Hosts generously bought a sponsored star on the ceiling of the castle's magnificent church, now registered as "The Seaford in England" star, to mark the visit.

The Plauschgruppe, the STA's German Conversation group, meets twice before the summer break. Firstly on Wednesday 28th June at The View, from 10 - 12, and then on Wednesday 19th July at the White Lion from 7 until 9.30 p.m. Both venues have drinks and food available. Members are free and visitors are asked for a £2 donation.
