SEAFORD STREET MARKETS - STC WANTS YOUR FEEDBACK

June 7th, 2017.

In line with its aim to increase footfall and tourism in the town centre, Seaford Town Council introduced the bi-weekly Seaford Street Markets in April 2017 on a trial basis.

The markets were being trialled every other Friday in Sutton Road, with the first four markets recording a significant increase in footfall to the area in comparison to non-market days.

The market has received a mixed reaction from the public, town centre residents and traders and it has been decided to end the market trial period earlier than originally planned to allow the Council to gather feedback from all town centre residents and traders on their impressions of the success and impact of the market, whether alternative locations should be looked at and any other comments they may wish to raise.

The Council will be issuing a questionnaire to local traders initially. The Council needs as much feedback as possible from the questionnaires to enable it to assess whether to continue with the market trial and what changes could be considered.

While the street markets have increased the footfall to the town centre, the Council must also ensure that the markets are meeting the needs of the town, its traders, residents and visitors.

There will be further announcements in due course as to the plans going forward.

The street market planned for this Friday, the 9th of June, will NOT be going ahead.
