TELEFONICA UK LTD APPEAL - BUCKLE BYPASS TELECOMS MAST NOW BACK ON THE AGENDA

June 7th, 2017

TJ Parsons writes:

Telefonica UK Ltd has lodged an appeal against last year's refusal by Lewes District Council for a 15m tall Telecommunications Mast on the Buckle bypass at Seaford.

The reasons for the Council's decision to refuse the original application are as follows: "The proposed Elara street pole by reason of its location and appearance would be overly prominent and incongruous with the surrounding area, imposing on the skyline and detrimental to the visual amenities of the wider area. The proposal is therefore contrary to the provisions of Policies ST3 and T16 of the Lewes District Local Plan."

Apparently, the Council only has a duty to inform the parties involved about the appeal, not the wider community. So this appeal may just go largely unnoticed.

The appeal will be decided on the basis of an exchange of written statements by the parties involved and a site visit by an Inspector.

The closing date for comments/objections to the Planning Inspectorate, (not LDC), is the 26th of June 2017.

If this mast development appeal affects you in any way please consider getting in touch with LDC planning department on 01273 471600 quoting APPEAL/17/0016.
