NEW MAYOR FOR NEWHAVEN

May 30th, 2017.

Councillor June Dyer was elected as the new Mayor of Newhaven by her fellow town councillors at the Annual Meeting, which took place on the 16th of May.

June received the chain of office from outgoing Mayor, Councillor Steve Saunders, who has completed two consecutive years as Mayor.

June was born in the North-East but moved to Newhaven in 1961 and has lived here ever since. She worked at Parker Pen for many years and her 56 years living in Newhaven have made her very passionate about the town. It was her desire to make a difference that led to her standing for election to the town council in May 2015.

June is looking forward to her year as Mayor because it will give her a chance to work raising money for charities in addition to representing the town at various events. She has chosen to support the Newhaven and Seaford Sea Cadets and the Newhaven Girl Guides.

June is certainly launching herself into fundraising with great verve as she will be undertaking a skydive as one of her fundraising events!
