CROSSFIT CORINTHIAN OPEN DAY - REPORT

January 31st, 2017.

A great day was had at CrossFit Corinthian on Saturday the 21st of January when the doors were opened for interested visitors to go along and find out more about the CrossFit phenomenon.

CrossFit is a program developed to offer full-body workouts that combine elements of cardio, weightlifting, gymnastics and core training.

Mandy Dean, a local sportswoman and coach, set up her own gym nearly four years ago, and affiliated to CrossFit three years ago as the training programs and ethos matched so well with her own style and discipline.

The Open Day started with a CrossFit WOD (Workout of the Day) which introduced some of the moves used in the regular program, and tested many of the newcomers and regulars alike.

Next followed a session from CrossFit Corinthian Kids, a multi-skill activity session for those between 3 and 17. This was led by Emma Dean, one of the few specialist kids coaches in the country.

Shona Croft from Alfriston Pilates then took volunteers through an introductory pilates class, and the day finished with an ‘Old Skool’ Circuits class, a high tempo class mostly involving light weights and bodyweight exercises.

Around a hundred people joined in the various classes, where the newcomers and regulars showed enthusiasm and hard work, and doubtless found some weaknesses to work on through the New Year.

If you are interested in getting a little fitter 2017, perhaps CrossFit Corinthian can help get you there.

All abilities and ages are welcome.
