Seaford Twinning Association is holding its last Plauschgruppe session before the summer break. This meeting, to chat in German, is open to all, regardless of the level of spoken or understood German language.

Members, their guests, and visitors meet this time at The Galley, the friendly cafe at Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club on the Prom near the Buckle, from 10.30am to 12.30pm this Saturday, the 23rd of July. Non-Members are asked for a donation of £2.00 toward association expenses.

Attendees are invited to bring books, postcards, magazines to provide a focus for chat, or just their stories and recollections. Usually chatters are from Germany, Austria, and from UK having learnt their German at school, work or in the forces. English-speaking members of STA are also welcome.

Seaford Twinners recently sent a ten-strong party to twin town Bönningstedt for a four day stay. Whilst there they were entertained to an alfresco meal with folk music at the town's museum. They also went on a waterborne tour of some of the most attractive areas of central Hamburg and visited a stud farm for Arab horses.

The town put on a splendid meal for the visitors in its Montenegro restaurant. This was enlivened by the performance by the town's answer to Seaford's Rock and Jazz Orchestra, called the Golden Nuggets. The young performers, mainly on saxophones and guitars, gave a splendid programme of upbeat classics.

Some members used the visit as a springboard to visit other places in Germany and France after the weekend was over. German visitors will be visiting Seaford next June, and prospective hosts are already being sought for this long weekend. If you can help then yoiu are requested to leave your details with Liz on 01323 896315.

The AGM of the Association will be at the Council Chamber on Friday the 9th of September at 7.30pm. Any volunteers to join the Committee, especially as Secretary or Events Organiser, will be warmly welcomed. Further details can be had from the STA website at or from Peter on 01323 897360.
