SEAHAVEN BUSINESS AWARDS 2016

Local MP Maria Caulfield joined Simon Kirby MP, the Mayor of Newhaven Councillor Steve Saunders and the Presidents of the Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford Chambers of Commerce on this year’s judging panel, where together they decided the winners of this year’s Seahaven Business Awards, which were announced at a Gala Awards Dinner on Friday the 6th of May.


Now in its 13th year, the Business Awards attracted over 500 nominations covering 76 companies from across the Seahaven area, with the winners of each of the seven categories being as follows:

President’s Award (Best New Business):

Best Retailer of the Year:

Best Environmental Business:
1st: Newberry Tully Estate Agents (Seaford) 2nd: Cleankill Environmental Services 3rd: Wave Leisure. Sponsored by Payline.

Best Eatery Award:
1st: The Hope Inn (Newhaven), 2nd: The Front Room (Seaford), 3rd: The Viceroy (Newhaven). Sponsored by The Sussex Sign Company

Business Person of the Year:

Best Customer Service:

Business of the Year:
Ist: Huckleberry Hair (Seaford) 2nd: Presentable Pooches (Newhaven) 3rd: Bodyhaven Salon (Newhaven). Sponsored by Swindells Chartered Accountants

Just prior to awarding the Seahaven Business Awards trophies, Phil Merry, Vice Chairman of Peacehaven Chamber presented their annual Chairman's Award trophy jointly to Paul Yates Smith and Simon Studd for their achievements throughout the year, and Alasdair Fortune, President of Seaford Chamber awarded their Chairman's trophy jointly to Jonathan Chappell and Gerri Ori.

The Awards were followed by a grand raffle and a silent charity auction organised by Fund Raising Auctions. The proceeds of the raffle and auction - just over £1000 - were donated to Mencap, Seaford & Newhaven Sea Cadets and Denton and Newhaven Scouts – the chosen charities for this event.
