SALTS PROGRESS

May 7 2016.

Works continue on the children’s play area at the Salts Recreation Ground and a significant step towards creating a fun and stimulating park for children to enjoy in the town for many years to come.

The recent delays have been with a view to ensuring that the current activities and changes to the site will bring about a vast improvement.

Seaford Council has worked with the sub-contractors to ensure that part of the park remains open at any one time. These efforts have not been in vain and the park has been well used over recent weeks despite the limited equipment on offer. The good news is that further pieces of equipment are be back in action and with the arrival of the sunny weather, it is hoped that the play area will soon be fully open again!

Visitors may also notice the new surface on certain areas of the park; this has been gifted as compensation from the manufacturers for the delays and is a valuable addition at no extra cost. This safety surfacing is much nicer for the children to play (and tumble!) on and makes accessing the equipment easier, especially during poorer weather when grassy areas quickly become muddy obstacles with the level of footfall they see.

Going forwards over the coming weeks, certain equipment will continue to be cordoned off while work is taking place, but this will be carried out as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

Once completed and open to be enjoyed by the public, Council officers will focus on the next stages of the redevelopment of the Salts as a whole, including the tennis courts, skate park and Salts Café.

Further developments and announcements are promised over the coming months.
