STC SECURES MOD GRANT FOR SEAHAVEN ARMED FORCES DAY

April 12 2016.

Seaford Town Council has been successful in obtaining a Ministry of Defence Grant Award for £4,418 towards the running of the Annual Seahaven Armed Forces Day event in the town.

Applications were sought by the Ministry of Defence for grants up to £5,000 to assist with the running of Veterans/Armed Forces Day events that demonstrated sustainability for years to come. The Council was able to match the criteria of the grant for the purchase of, staging, P.A. equipment and memorabilia perfectly.

The Seahaven Veterans and Armed Forces day has taken place over the past seven years and has grown from strength to strength. This year it takes place on Saturday the 25th of June at the Martello Fields, where a whole series of free activities are planned. Entry is free to all from 11.00am through to 8.00pm, with the veterans, serving armed forces personnel and cadets starting the proceedings with a parade along the Esplanade near the Martello Tower.

Seaford Town Mayor, Dave Argent said; "We are delighted that the M.O.D. has recognised the excellent work that Seaford provides for its residents and visitors. The £4,418 grant will ensure that this year the event is bigger and better than ever. We hope all Seaford families will come along and enjoy the free activities and support our past, current and future service personnel.”
