A fine mix of events in Newhaven today, kicking off with the Open Weekend for Denton Island Bowls Club, where you can have a go for free from 10.00am  to 1.00pm today and tomorrow.

Presentable Pooches in Newhaven High Street is celebrating its first birthday with a free to enter menu of fun and education for dogs and their 'owners'. It starts at 2.00pm and runs through to 6.00pm.

Over the river at Denton Church Hall, Ian Everest is giving one of his fascinating local history talks from 6.30pm. Just a fiver to listen and learn, with all proceeds going to the church repair fund.

Finish the day off with some top Folk Rock from Bucklers Reel at The Ark on the West Quay from 9.00pm.
