MARIA MEETS EAST SUSSEX FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE TO DISCUSS PARTNERSHIP WORKING

January 23 2016.

Local MP Maria Caulfield met with the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Fire Officer of East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) last week to discuss partnership working.

The meeting came in response to a recent Government consultation on this issue and follows Maria’s meeting with the Lewes Borough Commander of the ESFRS last week.

Maria said: “It was great to be able to get around the table with both the Police and Crime Commissioner and East Sussex Fire and Rescue to discuss the issue of partnership working. It was a productive discussion and there seemed to be genuine commitment from all parties to greater partnership working.”

Maria added: “Whilst there are issues to iron out and greater clarity on some points would be welcome, partnership working is definitely the way forward as we seek to ensure public services are run in the most efficient way possible.

“I would finish by once again paying tribute to the excellent work of both the local police, fire and rescue staff and other emergency services who work very hard on our behalf.”

The modern building, situated on Meeching Road, includes a large open-plan shared office area with meeting rooms and also a large community, training and briefing room, with lift access. There is also a gym which can be jointly used by all staff in the building.

Lewes District Council and Sussex Police will be operating a shared reception on the ground-floor, which will be open to the public Monday to Friday from 1000 – 1400hrs.
