December 29 2015.
Jim Skinner reports:
Nineteen members of the Friends of Tide Mills completed the December meeting before the Christmas break and due to these continuous gales we were confronted by levels of litter we haven't witnessed for some considerable time. It just goes to prove how much litter dumping is still occurring in our seas, as the vast majority of the litter is undoubtedly being blown in to the beach, rather than being casually discarded. We collected 17 sacks worth of rubbish this time, which is significantly more than the average over the past 18 months or so. Needless to say it will take at least two more monthly clear-ups to clear this amount of litter. What a sad indictment to those who use the sea as a dustbin.
On a brighter note, after our meeting we held our annual Christmas Picnic, which as always was a very nice way to finish the year.
Our next, and first, meeting of 2016, is taking place Sunday the 24th of January.
