Two historical guided tours led by Seaford historian Kevin Gordon were hosted by the Mayor of Seaford on the 29th of August and the 16th of September and were thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attended. Starting at the Seaford Town Council offices, Kevin guided the groups around Seaford and spoke about the rich and diverse history of the town.
Having visited the Norman Church of St. Leonard’s learning about Seaford and a centre of education as well as a garrison town, the tours then concluded back at the Council offices where everyone enjoyed tea and some delightful homemade cake graciously provided by the Mayoress of Seaford.
The Mayor of Lewes, Councillor Susan Murray, attended one of the tours and said she had been delighted by her tour of the town and had not realised the extent of its long history.
Mayor of Seaford David Argent said: “I received very positive responses from people who took part in the tours and I would like to thank everyone who came along, especially braving the slightly drizzly weather.”
The events were held to raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charities; Seaford Lifeguards and CTLA. The total amount raised was £45.
