The A259  Newhaven Bridge crossing will be closed to all traffic from 10.00pm tomorrow night, Wednesday the 16th of September until 5.00am on Thursday morning, the 17th of September. 

The road will be reopened no later than 5.00am to allow commuters to catch the 5.16am train from Newhaven Town.

A second drive motor has been installed on the bridge mechanism and the night closure is needed to synchronise the motor with the first motor previously installed in August.

The completed works mean that the bridge will now be swung using two motors attached to either side of the bridge, rather than with the previous motor and chain system.
