E-VEHICLE RAPID CHARGER COMES TO NEWHAVEN

September 9 2015.

LDC has installed a new electric vehicle rapid charger in Lower Place Car Park in Newhaven. These electric vehicle rapid chargers will re-charge electric and hybrid vehicles (up to 80% charge) within 30-40 minutes.

The rapid chargers link into the growing South East “Energise Network” which hosts over 20 rapid charger locations, plus over 100 other public and private sector charge points across Sussex, Surrey and Kent.

The rapid chargers are managed by “Charge Your Car” with drivers able to use the units by membership cards, a CYC app or by calling into CYC. A fee of £7.50 will be charged to use each charging point which will cover the cost of managing the units and electricity.

The Energise Network was developed from the OLEV funded eV South East Network Project (2013-15), and LDC was the lead authority (with Sussex-air). It is a public sector led partnership including Kent, Surrey and Sussex authorities and Southern Rail. The network has established a joined-up network of rapid electric vehicle charge points across the region and is working with partners to promote and raise awareness of eV charging and benefits of going “electric”.
