WHAT'S IN STORE FOR NEWHAVEN? MARIA TALKS TO SAINSBURY'S

September 3 2015.

Local MP Maria Caulfield recently met with the manager of the Sainsbury’s  in Newhaven to discuss issues affecting the store, it’s plans for the future and the regeneration of Newhaven more widely. Maria then took a tour of the store before meeting with staff from a number of departments.

Maria explained: “Sainsbury’s is an important employer in the town, employing some 300 people at the Newhaven store. I was therefore delighted to be able to meet with the manager, take a tour of the store and meet with the staff. One of my priorities is the regeneration of Newhaven and as a large employer in the town Sainsbury’s clearly has a role to play.”

Maria regularly meets with businesses, both large and small, across the constituency to hear the issues affecting them and what action they would like to see from the government to help them continue to grow.

Maria continued: “I was delighted to hear of the job opportunities available at the store and would encourage local residents looking for work to get in touch with the company. I was also pleased to hear about Sainsbury’s commitment to increasing pay for staff and its support for charities such as the RNLI.”
