In good weather and fantastic sporting spirit Newhaven Bowling Club held its annual finals competitions last weekend. Highlight of the weekend included Luke Gray pushing Ken Davis all the way in the Men’s Championship.Although Ken won 21-10, Luke made him play for every point, Ken needing some very accurate woods to win. Ken went on to win a further two titles; 100up and Handicap competitions.
Josie Baker equaled Ken’s successes in the Ladies Championship, beating current Ladies Captain, Margaret Pellett, in a close match Josie edged in the final ends. She also went on to win the 2 Wood, and with Peter Blackman the Married Pairs.
Two members from the Junior team won competitions. Building on his runner up spot at the County Under 25 Final a few weeks ago, Luke Gray (16), won against Peter Pellett. The youngest member playing, Ross Moutrey (12), teamed up with Mike Bridges to win the Men’s Pairs. It was a family affair as Ross won against his dad, John, who partnered Peter Blackman.
