DONATE - DON'T DUMP

August 26 2015.

The Age UK East Sussex Furniture Warehouses are seeking furniture, especially beds and mattresses, to raise money for vital services for older people in the community.

With second-hand furniture no longer seen as second best, the charity is now struggling to meet demand.

The charity collects furniture, white goods, homeware and electrical items across East Sussex, free of charge, and then recycles and resells the unwanted goods.

If you are downsizing, decluttering or clearing a home after a bereavement or a move to a care home or sheltered housing their professional team offer a trustworthy service at what can sometimes be a difficult time.

The warehouses have saved around 100 tons from going to the local refuse facility; benefiting the environment and reducing landfill.

The outlets offer many benefits to the local community too. Paid jobs are provided for local people in retail, customer services, administration and stock collection.
There are volunteering opportunities for the long term unemployed to learn new skills on the road back to full employment. Also low income families and those collecting a state pension or job seekers allowance are supported by reselling good quality items at a fraction of the new cost price.

All the money raised helps fund vital services to improve the quality of life for those in later life across East Sussex by reducing social isolation, promoting independence
to enable lifestyle choices and maximise physical and mental health.

To arrange a free collection and for more information call 01273 646800 or 01323 403111 or visit Age UK East Sussex HERE.
