MARIA WORKS TO KEEP LOCAL GREEN AND OPEN SPACES

August 18 2015.

Local MP Maria Caulfield is continuing to work with constituents to keep local green spaces green. Since becoming Member of Parliament for the area, Maria has worked against inappropriate development in the area wherever it has been proposed.

Maria is asking the French owners of NPP to release access to the beach at Newhaven, she has urged Lewes District Council to think again about building on the Buckle Car Park at Seaford and is calling for much greater consultation with local residents about development across the constituency.

Maria said: 'I promised to work to protect our green and open spaces before May and I have engaged with a number of campaigns to ensure that the only development allowed is appropriate for the area. We have to strike the right balance between providing the housing and infrastructure the area needs and ensuring that our natural heritage is protected and enhanced, wherever possible.’
