16 year old Karla Marsland from Newhaven was named the winner of a National Comedy Arts Award after taking part in a comedy theatre workshop at the Brighton Dome last week.

Comedy duo Max and Ivan helped local 14-19 year olds find their inner joker and develop skills in stand-up, sketch writing and improvisation, and Karla delivered her own stand-up routine during a cabaret performance for over 200 audience members.

Karla, a regular performer at Seaford Musical Theatre, was delighted to receive the award and hopes to develop a career in comedy in the future.
