DANNY GETS MULTI-MAYOR SUPPORT FOR FUNDRAISER

August 7 2015.

The Mayors of Newhaven, Peacehaven, Telscombe and Seaford have all pledged their support for a fundraising idea suggested by Danny Woolven, (pictured here), a 14 year old student from Peacehaven Community School.

Danny's mum, Paula Woolven, works for the only community transport charity in the Haven area, CTLA, and Danny came up with a plan to help raise funds for a new minibus when he saw a 'Walking Bus' of children heading to primary school with an adult at each end.

"I starting cracking jokes at first," said Danny. "Like: 'I wonder if there's a double decker walking bus?' and 'You wait for a walking bus for ages and then two come along at once!' and then I suddenly had the idea that CTLA who use minibuses could do a sponsored walking bus!"

The walk will take place on Sunday the 11th of October from Seaford and loop around Newhaven, Peacehaven and Telscombe before returning to Seaford for a finishing celebration. Participants can take part in as many sections of the walk as they feel able to; from one mile up to the whole 16 mile route.

"Danny has seen the impact community transport has on people's lives due to my work," explained Paula. "For some people, door to door transport is their only way to leave their house and our travel club combats isolation and loneliness, one of the biggest problems we face in our community.

"I am very proud of Danny for coming up with this idea and I thank Councillors Argent, Saunders, Botting and Robertson for pledging their support to his fundraising walk."
