MAYOR OF SEAFORD'S CIVIC SERVICE

Mayor of Seaford David Argent officially celebrated his induction as Mayor at a Civic Service held yesterday. The service at Seaford Baptist Church and was led by Reverend Vicky Martin, the Mayor’s Chaplain for the year.


Various dignitaries were in attendance, including the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Mayors from neighbouring towns, emergency service officials and Council chairmen. Friends, family members and associates of the Mayor also attended the service as well as members of the public.

Honorary Freeman Laurie Holland was requested to give a reading at the service. Reverend Martin encouraged everyone to join together in prayers for the Mayor, for the town of Seaford and its community. Attendees also sang along to some well-selected energetic hymns.

The Mayor’s charities, Seaford Lifeguards and CTLA, gave two introduction presentations, providing information on their services and thanking the Mayor for his support, as well as members from other organisations in attendance.

The service concluded with a retiring collection that raised over £210 for the Mayor’s charity fund.

Refreshments were provided by the Baptist Church after the service and the Mayoress of Seaford provided a selection of homemade cakes that were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
