CHANCELLOR REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO A27 INVESTMENT

June 17 2015.

Local MP Maria Caulfield today spoke of her delight as the Chancellor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in improving the A27. The Chancellor made the announcement as he stood in for the Prime Minister for a session of Prime Minister’s Questions.

Maria said: “The A27 is an incredibly important transport link in our area and it is therefore fantastic news that the Chancellor reiterated the government’s commitment to investing in improving this vital route.

This is an issue I campaigned on before the election and have continued to do so in parliament. Since being elected I have joined the A27 reference group to continue to make the case to the government for improving our road.”

The A27 Reference Group has been established with the intention of improving this vital road by working with East Sussex County Council, as well as other agencies and departments such as the Highways Agency, and the Department for Transport. The Group is made up of East Sussex Members of Parliaments, Chief Executives and Leaders of the County Council, Borough and District Councils, and other relevant stakeholders.

Maria continued: “Improving the A27 corridor is imperative to the continued economic growth of East Sussex and I am pleased to see that something is being done about it.”
