ROTARY YOUNG LEADERSHIP REWARDS

June 4 2015.

Mike Hemmings writes:

Josie Puttock-West and Phoebe Adfield  were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Seaford to take part in the recent district annual RYLA challenge, and they joined club members for lunch to share some of their experiences.

Teamwork proved to be essential, as well as some degree of bravery. Phoebe was less than enthusiastic at the idea of ascending the high ropes and confessed that she cried all the way up. The trapeze was also somewhat scary, but she was clearly happier with the raft competition in which her team won the Golden Paddle.

On the Wednesday of the week the whole group went to a Theatre in London for a breather, then back into the fray with rock climbing - They got to the top eventually! Then on to abseiling where Josie was quite happy, Phoebe less sure.

Hiking - The plan was to be dropped off somewhere and get back to base seven miles away. Somehow Phoebe's team managed to get back eventually after 15 miles. This time though Josie's team were the winners.

For the last night, they spent time with a big bonfire camping in tepees.

Well done to both of them, we wish them well.
