MARIA CAULFIELD MP PROUD TO REPRESENT LEWES AT ELECTION OF SPEAKER

Maria Caulfield, MP for Lewes, has spoken of her pride in representing the Lewes constituency at the election of the Speaker of House of Commons yesterday.


Ms Caulfied, elected for the Lewes constituency in the recent General Election, spoke of her first Parliamentary duty: "This was the first major event of the new Parliament and I was delighted to be in the Chamber, representing my constituents.

"Election of the Speaker is an ancient constitutional practice and is part of the heart of our Parliamentary democracy.

"I am now looking forward to the Queen’s Speech and raising my constituents’ concerns in the Chamber."
