RNLI MAYDAY MERRIMENT

May 18 2015.

The inaugural Mayday national fundraising weekend for the RNLI was well received in the Haven area with many in attendance at Newhaven Lifeboat House and enjoying Mayday Music Night.

Local bands The Mulekickers and Crooked Rooks, together with other invited musicians, thoroughly entertained the capacity audience and £306.53 was raised for the benefit of RNLI Newhaven.

Sales of the RNLI Yellow Welly pin badges at Sainsbury’s supermarket, Newhaven, raised an impressive £1409.90 and, with a local Mayday coffee morning raising a further £281.13, the fundraising events for the RNLI over the Mayday period were deemed to be a success and further testament to the support the local community is always prepared to give the volunteer lifeboat crew.

Upcoming fundraising events include Seaford Flag Week, with the main collections taking place from  the 15th to the 20th of June at Morrison’s, Seaford, and the Newhaven Lifeboat Summer Fete on Saturday the 4th of July at Huggetts Green, Newhaven from 12noon to 4.00pm. Pitches are still available and stallholders are invited to contact rnlunewhaven.society@hotmail.co.uk for further information.
