INSPIRING FUNDRAISING TEENAGER SMURFS UP FOR RNLI

March 16 2015.

When 15 year old Young Enterprise Award nominee Robbie Garritt faced the last minute disappointment of being unable to travel on a school trip, he instead used the opportunity to raise money for RNLI Newhaven.

Robbie had made a fancy dress costume due to be worn on the last night of the school trip. Determined for his hard work not to be wasted, Peacehaven Community School pupil Robbie sought permission from the school to be sponsored to wear the Smurf costume all day for charity and raised an impressive £84.68.

Fundraising is familiar territory for Robbie as he has previously raised money for Newhaven & Seaford Sea Cadets using handmade traditional fairground games.

The presentation of the monies raised following his most recent fundraising effort was made at Newhaven Lifeboat Station where Robbie was presented with a certificate in recognition and was also lucky enough to meet some of the volunteer lifeboat crew.
