SUPPORT THE ROVER COMMUNITY BUS SERVICE

March 12 2015.

The contract between East Sussex County Council [ESCC] and Community Transport for the Lewes Area [CTLA] for the Peacehaven Rover Dial a Ride Service, (previously Peacehaven Taxi-Rider), will expire on the 11th of April.
Following a review of the supported bus network, East Sussex County Council did not re-tender for the service.

This decision caused considerable concern to the users of the service. CTLA, ESCC, local community groups and interested individuals have been working together to try to achieve a cost-effective solution to provide an alternative service.

CTLA and ESCC have agreed alternative funding to enable CTLA to provide a replacement service that which will cater for the current passengers of the Peacehaven Rover service. ESCC and CTLA are committed to continuing to work in partnership, together with other community transport providers, to secure alternative funding from other sources to meet increasing demand for their support.

CTLA has launched the “Get on Board” fundraising campaign to purchase a new 4 Towns Community Bus that will provide the replacement service. The current 4 Towns scheme, part funded by the Haven’s Town Councils, has proved to be invaluable in providing community transport services for some of the most vulnerable residents of Peacehaven, Telscombe and East Saltdean as well as Newhaven and Seaford.
