NEWHAVEN LIFEBOAT LAUNCHED TO ANGLING VESSEL

Newhaven’s Severn Class lifeboat ‘RNLB David and Elizabeth Acland’ and her volunteer crew were launched yesterday at 9:40am to assist a 17ft angling vessel with two people on board which had experienced engine failure.


The small angling vessel was approximately 3.5 miles south of Newhaven Harbour. Both crew on board the casualty vessel were uninjured.

Newhaven lifeboat was alongside the vessel within 20 minutes and a tow was quickly established. The casualty vessel was then safely towed into Newhaven harbour and moored alongside the visitor’s pontoon on the eastern side of Newhaven Marina.

Newhaven lifeboat was then stood down at 11:00am and returned to station and was again ready for service shortly afterwards.
