MAN TRIES TO GET TEENAGE GIRL INTO HIS CAR IN SEAFORD

February 6 2015.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man tried to persuade a 16-year-old girl to get into his car in Seaford. The teenager was walking home from school in Links Road at about 3.25pm last Friday, the 30th of January, when the man spoke to her from his car. He asked her if she wanted a lift and then reached out from his car as if to try to grab hold of her arm. The girl stepped back to avoid him and walked away. The man then drove off in his car, which is described as old, white and rusty.

The man was white and in his late 30s with short brown, messy hair. He was unshaven, had a nasal voice and was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

PC Carl Bold said: "We are keeping an open mind as to what the man's intentions were, but as a child was involved we are very keen to identify and speak to him.

"I would ask that anyone who thinks they may know him or who recognises the description of the car to contact us.

"The girl in this case did exactly the right thing. We are not linking this incident to any other at the moment, but I would urge parents to remind their children never to get into a stranger's car."
