ELECTION SPEAK
I read with interest the Conservative publication Seaford & Newhaven Matters delivered to me recently.

I see that the Parliamentary hopeful Ms. Caufield supports Seaford Football Club. Good for her. What she fails to mention is her public statement at the last meeting of Seaford Town Council when she announced her plan to sell off the Crouch Gardens in Seaford in order to re-locate Seaford Football Club on a permanent pitch in the Salts Recreation ground.

She did not say what effect putting a permanent surface on a flood plain below sea level would have, nor what she would do with the Rugby Club, the Cricket Club and all the dog walkers and others who currently enjoy the Salts. But presumably she doesn’t support them.

Luckily Seaford Town Council who have been working extremely hard for some time now on a holistic plan for the Salts which does take all of these things into consideration had the sense to turn her down. I am sure the electorate will do the same in May.
