LOCAL MAN WHO DIED IN NEWHAVEN ACCIDENT IS NAMED

The man who died after he was struck by a lorry on the A26 at South Heighton on Friday has been named as 35-year-old Peter Knight.


Mr Knight, of Powell Gardens, Newhaven, was hit just after 10.00am on Friday near the junction with the A26 New Road and the B2109 Avis Road at South Heighton. He died at the scene.

A post-mortem has confirmed he died after suffering multiple injuries.

A 65-year-old man from Bishopstone who was also struck, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the red dropside DAF lorry, a man from Kent, was uninjured. He was driving south on the A26 when the incident occurred.
