NEWHAVEN LIFEBOAT FOLK FUNDRAISER

The Newhaven Lifeboat House swayed to the melodic sound of Folk group Hard Pressed on Saturday, with the audience entertained with sea shanties and other songs of the sea, accompanied by accordion and penny whistle.


The evening was a fundraising event held in aid of RNLI Newhaven and raised £297.20. This was the second visit of the year by Hard Pressed who enjoy the atmosphere of the Boathouse and area of Newhaven so much they are returning again at the end of March next year for a Folk Festival. The Sovereign Seas Folk Festival will see Hard Pressed joined by, amongst others, John Cave, The Travelling Folk, Long Man Morris and Marlings Clog. Derek Seed, member of Hard Pressed said: “It is very much hoped that the good folk of Newhaven and surrounding areas will embrace the charm of the Festival and enjoy the entertainment.” Full details and ticket information are available by contacting rnlinewhaven.society@hotmail.co.uk

The next fundraising event organised by the Lifeboat Society will be the Christmas Fayre being held at The Hillcrest Centre, Hillcrest Road, Newhaven on Saturday the 29th of November from 10.00am to 1.00pm.  Newhaven Maestro will be playing to open the Fayre and Haven Harmonies will be singing a variety of Christmas songs. With many stalls and Father Christmas making a visit, the whole family is invited along to enjoy the festive spirit.
