CIRCUS SHOWS SUCCESS

October 16 2014.

Over five hundred people enjoyed the smell of the greasepaint and the roar of the crowd at the Barn Theatre, Seaford, last week, as award-winning community youth theatre group, Seaford Musical Theatre Juniors (SMTJ) performed three circus themed shows.

Starting with a relaxed free performance for local community and special needs groups, the three separate casts performed a mix of modern and classic songs including 'Clown', 'The Show Must Go On' and 'Nelly The Elephant'.

The younger shows included script written by nine year old actress, Soufriere Etherington, and the young adult performance featured an emotional song called 'Take My Hand' composed by Seahaven's Got Talent winner, sixteen year old Tyanna Griffiths.

Other highlights of the show included a fully working flea circus and 'Zoltar' fortune telling machine created by props master Ray Woolven.

Show patrons included the Mayors of Telscombe, Newhaven and Seaford, Cllrs Wayne Botting, Judith Ost and Mark Brown and the Mayoress of Peacehaven, Louise Robertson who all praised the ethos of SMTJ - confidence, creativity and consideration for others.

The young members will now be moving on to perform at Christmas charity shows and events across East Sussex and starting rehearsals for their April show, Bugsy Malone, in the New Year.
