Older People's Day is an International day created to recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions that older people make to society and community groups across East Sussex have been hosting fun events and information sessions throughout September and October.

Community Transport charity CTLA was delighted to host a free afternoon tea on Tuesday the 7th of October for 100 older members of the community at the Meridian Centre in Peacehaven.

Britain's Got Talent Semi-Finalist, Sam Jones, entertained the guests with ventriloquism, comedy and magic following an excellent 40's themed sing-a-long performance from members of Seaford Musical Theatre and Julie's Art Of Noise.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Lieutenant of East Sussex, Mrs Marion Shepherd, the Mayor and Mayoress of Seaford, Mark and Vera Brown and the Deputy Mayor of Newhaven, Diane Hall.

Peacehaven champion baker, Marilyn Nolan, provided an array of home made cakes, snacks and sandwiches assisted by CTLA volunteer Iris Donaldson. CTLA also provided free transport to and from the event for guests with mobility restrictions.
