ARTWAVE FINALE AT DRIFTWOOD

September 2 2014.

The 21st annual Artwave Festival continues into it's final weekend on the 6th and 7th September! Venue 69, Driftwood in Bishopstone, had a great second weekend, despite East Sussex Council deciding to repair the road and cause massive tailbacks on the A259 last Sunday, meaning many visitors just gave up trying to get to the venue! Some, however, took to bikes or just walked to the award winning Artwave venue. Two intrepid ladies, after seeing the garden in a national gardening magazine recently, had travelled all the way from Leeds to see both the garden and the art. Maria Swider and Sue Thornton were both enthralled with the garden and took away some of the art as a momento.

Many visitors came and enjoyed Geoff's famous tea and cakes and were able to sit in both the beach garden and amongst the plants at the back, as the sun shone for some of both days.

Driftwood has already sold an incredible £6500 worth of art, already beating their 2013 record. And... There are still two more days to go!

Geoff's Driftwood Fundraising Group has been raising money for Macmillan all summer and has £9400 in the bank ready to present to Rob Moon, Regional Fundraising Manager for the charity, at 4.00pm on Sunday in the garden. He's hoping he can get the remaining £600 from tea and cake sales, donations and sale of raffle tickets for artist donated work by the 4.00pm deadline.

Visit the venue from 11.00am through to 5.00pm on Saturday or Sunday and help Geoff reach his goal. You may even find you take home some of the stunning art by16 local artists being displayed in the garden as part of the festival.
