SEAFORD BETRAYED BY CCG SAYS SAM

August 5 2014.

Yesterday's opening of the Old Seaford Day Hospital without any NHS services is bad news for the people of Seaford and an indictment of the Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) which has yet again let down the people of Seaford.

The CCG is responsible for engaging with patients to ensure that services are provided to meet the patients’ needs. However, since the CCG was established in April 2013 all it has done is move services further away from us, the people of Seaford.

Since 2013 we have lost physiotherapy services from Seaford, maternity services from Eastbourne DGH and elderly outpatients from Seaford must now travel to Bexhill for basic hospital treatment.

Each time we meet with representatives of the CCG they tell us of their commitment to providing services locally, but their actions do not match their words. The CCG has promised much, but delivered nothing.

We the people of Seaford have had enough of the weasel words, empty promises and statements of commitment from the CCG. I therefore call on the board of the CCG to turn their words into deeds by immediately enabling much needed NHS services to be provided in Seaford, and at the very least, by bringing back physiotherapy services to Seaford

Our message to the CCG is clear: We will not give up until we get much needed NHS health services provided locally here in Seaford.
