NEWHAVEN NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN

July 2 2014.

Newhaven Town Council is currently producing a Neighbourhood Plan for Newhaven. This will be a document written by the community, for the community and is a new type of planning document which gives power to local people.

The Town Council has been successful in securing funding towards preparing the Plan from the organisation ‘Locality’ in association with other partners including the Royal Town Planning Institute.

The purpose of the Plan is to guide future development and regeneration as required by the District Council’s development plan for the area, as well as seeking ways to improve Newhaven for residents and visitors alike.

To help the community to get involved, public consultation events are to take place on:

8th July at Meeching Hall, Fort Road, 10am – 3pm

8th July at Lewes Road Hut, 5pm – 8pm

15th July at Denton and Mount Pleasant Social Centre, 10am – 2pm

In addition, an Information Sheet and Questionnaire will be delivered to every household in the town, as the Town Council really does want to know from local people what they think would be good for Newhaven.

This is an exciting time for the local community as they have an opportunity to have a real voice, as to how they would like to see their town develop and change over the coming years.
